You can find out when two taxa split up. Very enlightening: bromeliads and humans diverged about 1400 Mya ago! What does this tell us? Mainly that Dr. Jana is trying hard to not-work! 😉
Community composed of a single species
Interesting, though old news. Has anyone else read about the bacterial community made up of a single species of bacteria? It lives inside a gold mine in South Africa, with no other species, no sun, and no oxygen. É fantástico, não?

Another one of these crazy whole-island experiments. Upscaling from our mesocosms ;-). I loved the evolution-ecology connection. And the idea of letting anoles run on a treadmill as a measure of reptile fitness. Did they also measure their body mass index? People do weird things in the name of science.
