We are very excited to announce that a trainee-led organizing committee is bringing you a virtual Vancouver Drosophila Research Day, or more aptly named VanFly 2020nline. This virtual conference will take place over the course of 2 days (July 14-15, 2020) from 1:00 to 5:00pm. We will be featuring Drosophila trainee talks, PI talks, a keynote presentation by Dr. Edan Foley from the University of Alberta, and a Drosophila Career Panel featuring trained Drosophila researchers that have moved to various unique careers outside of academia. More detailed information can be found at our website https://vanflybc.weebly.com.
Attendance to VanFly 2020nline is FREE, however, we do require registration via our registration form found here: https://tinyurl.com/vanfly2020nline. If you are interested in presenting a talk, please register your talk title and an optional short description of your talk by June 26, 2020. If you do not wish to give a talk, we will accept attendance registrations up until the day of VanFly 2020nline.
An additional goal of VanFly 2020nline is to establish a Slack group for the Drosophila research community in Vancouver, BC, and Canada-wide to promote sharing ideas, resources, and collaboration. We will also be using Slack to ask questions for the talks during VanFly 2020nline.
