The oceans cover 71% of Earth’s surface, and contain 99% of all living species on Earth. Join UBC professors Dr. Philippe Tortell, an oceanographer and Head of the Dept. of Earth, Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at UBC, and Dr. Susan Allen, a physical oceanographer, as they discuss the ships, satellites and supercomputers they use to measure the impact of climate change on the Arctic, and to model extreme weather events including storm surges in our local Salish Sea.
This program is part of the Curiosities of the Natural World series in partnership with UBC Let’s Talk Science, the UBC Faculty of Science, and the UBC Public Scholars Initiative.
In partnership with Science Literacy Week.
