open positions

thank you for considering joining us ๐Ÿ™!

here’s a link to my mentorship approach.

please read the edi tab before sending your materials. don’t rush your application – take the time to write something complete and genuine, written completely by you, and you will receive a genuine response! incomplete applications will not receive a response.

๐Ÿงฌ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿชฑ

graduate studies ๐Ÿ“š – please send an email to callista, outlining your motivation, goals, and scientific interests. tell us what excites you, why our lab would be a good fit, your journey as a scientist, and anything else you’d like to share! prospective candidates typically have significant research experience (ex. directed studies, honour’s thesis, co-op working experience, technician experience) and have taken relevant courses such as upper-year genetics, molecular biology, and developmental biology courses.

postdoctoral fellows ๐Ÿงช – in addition to above, please send your CV and outline potential projects you want to pursue. in parallel, arrange for 3 references to email letters directly to callista. candidates with neuroscience, ‘omics, or cell biology background are highly encouraged to apply.

undergraduate research ๐ŸšŒ – please send an email to callista outlining 1) a bit about yourself, 2) why are you interested in studying neurobiology, 3) your scientific goals, 4) what you hope to get out of this experience. please also 5) attach your transcript so we can see which courses you’ve taken, and 6) write in your email what you liked in those courses (your chance to nerd out here!). finally, 7) please read this paper and tell us what you thought of it (please do not give a summary). you might be wondering why you need to do all these steps, but taking on undergrads (and reading their applications!) is a big time commitment on our part and we need to see that you’re committed too!

no research experience is necessary, but having some foundation in genetics, cell biology, and molecular biology would make this a much more enriching experience.

after sending your email, callista will go through your materials and if we think you’re a good fit, we will contact you. disclaimer: the number of applications we receive massively exceeds the number of spots we have available/capacity for.
