Contacts for permission and access

Enos Lake:

Call Dave Scott (250-468-7054) of Fairwinds Development to let him know you will be visiting. If you want to be able to drive down to the lakeside, ask him to unlock the gate for you. The lake is still accessible if the gate is locked, but you'll have to leave the truck at the top of the hill and carry stuff back and forth to the lakeside.

Paxton Lake, Texada Island:

Harold M. Diggon is the manager of TEXADA QUARRYING LTD. Give his office a call to ensure that you gain entry to Paxton Lake through their gate, and to make sure that they are not blasting on the times and dates you had chosen to sample. Tel:(604)486-7627; Fax:(604)486-7280; Cell:(604)483-8444. Harold is on the "Stickleback Committee," so is sympathetic to what we are doing.

Priest Lake, Texada Island:

According to Adrew MacColl (in 2006) the guy (Ben) who now looks after the water system for VanAnda is not leaving the key for the chain by the post, and intends to replace the padlock with a new one. He is quite happy for sticklebackies to go in there, but suggested that people ring sometime to find out about new arrangements for getting in. His telephone numbers are (cell) 604 413 1150 and (home) 604 486 0226.

Balkwill Lake, Texada Island:

Call Rick Jones (604-486-7789 or 604-483-8308 (cell)) to get access, especially to Kirk Lake.

Kirk Lake, Texada Island:

To access Kirk Lake, call Garnet at 604-414-8363. Call after 7 PM, and leave a message if noone answers. Our original contact is Rick Jones (604-486-7789 or 604-483-8308 - cell), who helped us get in the first time.

Murdo-Frazer Park:

Enos Lake limnetics were introduced to this pond in 1988 and 1989. Richard Boulton is the Park Superintendant for North Vancouver at 604-990-3804 (general number for North Vancouver is 604-990-2450). There is a caretaker at the park in the little house (Derek Huberts, phone 604-985-3388), call him to ask if we can access the pond from his property and set traps from there. The number of the mini golf course is 604-980-8410.

Burnaby Mountain Golf Course:

This golf course is at 7600 Halifax Street, Burnaby. 190 adult Paxton limnetics were introduced to the pond next to the parking lot and clubhouse in 1989. Current contacts are David O'Connor (boss) 604 430-4545 and Ken Thompson (site manager) 604 312-0930.

Little Campbell River:

Call Semiahmoo First Nations at 604-536-3101 before collecting downstream (west) of Highway 99.

North Lake:

In 2006 the owner of the house that we usually use to access North Lake was trying to sell it. He said that he would still be available on the Vancouver no. We can't assume that the new owners are prepared to continue giving access.
