The lab has a new battery charger which can be found in the dry
lab. I have placed the instruction book on top of it and suggest that
anyone wanting to use the charger read the instructions as the labels on
the charger are incredibly non-intuitive. We had been doing things wrong
with the old charger which likely contributed to the short life of our past
batteries. The big motor battery should be charged on 10A, not 2A. The
red indicator light lights up if you have the connections backward. The
left button on the charger should always be set to activate (which means
the charger is in automatic mode and will shut off when the battery is
fully charged- over charging a battery is extremely bad for it). The green
light comes on when the battery is done charging. Hook up the charger to
the battery before plugging the charger in.
Cheers,
Howard
