Q. Can I register as a year 2 nd year biology student without applying for and being accepted into the 2nd year biology program?
A. No, you can not. You will need to be registered in another program in second year.
Q. Can I still take Biology 200 and other 2nd year courses required for the 2nd year biology program if I am not registered in 2nd year biology student?
A. Yes, of course, but you will not be able to access the reserved block of seats in BIOL 200, and 204 set aside for students registered in the 2nd year biology program, and will be competing with all other students wanting access to those courses.
Q. If, I am registered as a 2nd year biology student am I guaranteed a seat in BIOL 200?
A. Yes, if you are accepted into the program you are guaranteed a seat in BIOL 200.
Q. If, I register in 2nd year biology program do I have to enter the 3rd year biology program?
A. No, you may go into another third year program for which you are qualified (e.g. MICB, BIOC, ISP, etc.).
Q. If, I am accepted into second year Biology Program am I guaranteed a place in the third year program and beyond?
A. No, you will still have to apply for admission into third year Biology Program.

Q. Do I have to register for the biology program in the second year to be able to get into third year biology programs?
A. No, you may apply after completing second year in another program, but you will have to compete for remaining places in the biology program with students coming into the program from all other programs.
Q. Can I register myself in 3rd year Biology programs?
A. No, even if you are registered as a second year Biology student, you must apply to for admission into the third year Biology Program.
Q. What if I don’t have all the second year requirements? Can I still apply to the third year Biology Program?
A. No, you must have all your 2nd year requirements, but we have three admissions peroids to get into the 3rd year Biology Program May, August, and January.
Q. Can I take my physiology requirement in 4th year?
A. No, the only students who may take their physiology course in their fourth year are COOP and exchange students who are not able to satisfy their physiology requirement while they were on exchange. Many of these students simply take half of the physiology lab in third year and finish up the second half in 4th year. However they must bring their intention to do this to our attention at the earliest possible date. We have limited flexibility to accommodate such requests.
Q. I am a transfer student and have some but not all of my second year requirements. Can I apply for entry into Biology?
A. No. You must have all your 2nd year requirements before you apply.
Q. If, I am refused admissions, is there anyone to whom I can appeal the decision?
A. Yes, you may submit an Admission Appeal Form to the Biology Office.
