SIMPLE PSEUDOSTRATIFIED EPITHELIUM
- EPITHELIUM, because the tissue is bordering a lumen (4);
- SIMPLE PSEUDOSTRATIFIED - It is not easy to figure out if this epithelium is simple pseudostratified
or stratified columnar. We gave you two clues to help: 1- this tissue lines
the lumen of the trachea and 2 - all the cells of this epithelium rest on
the basement membrane. These clues eliminate the stratified columnar.
Stratified columnar epithelium is not found in the trachea and only
the cells of its deepest layer rest on the basement membrane (the other layers
of cells are stacked on the top of each other).
