Junior Research Scientist, Roskams Lab
I took this job, because it was the only one I looked at that allowed me to still call myself “junior,” at my advanced age. Basically, I try to run the Roskams Lab, all the time making Jane think that she really does, and also trying to keep her out of trouble. In fact, that might be a more significant aspect of my job than I first realized.
I work on two main research projects in the lab – transgenic mouse production, maintenance and analysis for the apoptosis project, and on viral expression and human cell expansion work, particularly for the olfactory ensheathing cell project. I am also responsible for co-ordinating collaborations for the lab and making sure that Jane doesn’t commit herself and the rest of us to working more hours in the day than actually exist.
