Ash Anwar completed his BSc (Hons) in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University in 2008. Following the completion of his BSc (Hons) at SFU, Ash has worked as a teaching assistant for the Dept of Biomedical Physiology and Kinesiology where he gained a keen interest for teaching at the university level. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Experimental Medicine at the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Dr. Jane Roskams. Ash's research involves looking at neuroglial responses to a variety of mouse CNS and PNS injury models. Specifically studying the the effects of blood brain barrier integrity in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis, a model of multiple sclerosis. Specifically, the mechanisms associated with loss of blood brain barrier integrity and regeneration and repair of the barrier following injury or disease. Ash aspires to continue to mould keen minds through teaching and performing research at the university level.
