Links

A list of some of my favourite software. The links are sorted in reverse chronological order so the newest ones will always be at the top and the oldest (and most likely to be broken) at the bottom. I won't be checking for broken links regularly so if you notice one, please
let me know. I may also delete links from this page when I get bored with them, so don't count on a link still being here the next time you're looking for it.

Borland has released the latest release of their command-line compiler for free. It's not the full C++Builder but it's still a handy tool for building MS-Windows programs and DLLs. This link is a local copy (8.7MB) of the download available from Borland. Freeware.

A very good Usenet news client. Freeware.

GhostScript, GhostView, and GSviewMarch, 2000
An excellent Postscript interpreter for many platforms. View or print Postscript (*.ps) files. Lets you search Postscript files for text and extract text to files (and many more features). Browse their links to find the arcade games (ROMs).

EditWithNotepad.reg1998
Windows 9x registry hack. Adds the command Edit with Notepad to right clicks in Explorer and makes it the default action for files with no other associations. Hasn't been tested but should work to just download it and double click on the file. Very handy. Found it in a Tips & Tricks file somewhere. Let me know if there are any problems.

Discounted Least Squares1998
A DOS program I wrote to see how the concept of discounted least squares curve fitting [blok97b] could be implemented. If you're trying to fit some data to a curve give this a look. Basically, by rescaling the error estimates we can rework the curve fitting equations into a much simpler form.
