“Lab” bike

Summer is almost upon us, and many of you might be considering taking field trips to help out down at Totem or the Farm. So I’d thought I’d let you know about my crappy field bike, available for use to get yourself around campus!

The bike is a rad black 90s Raleigh with purple forks and nubby tires (pictured below). Her drive train, and, well, everything else, is a bit rusty, but she mostly shifts okay and does fine on the more-or-less flat ground on campus. The seat is set at mid-height (too short for me, maybe a stretch for some of you) but feel free to adjust it if you have the tools.

She’s locked up in the bike area below the biodiversity building, at the foot of the North glassed-in stairwell. The key to the lock is in my drawer in the lab. If you borrow the bike, there are three rules:

(1) If anything happens to the bike, let me know as soon you can. You’re also welcome to fix whatever it is yourself at the Bike Kitchen on campus, but let me know anyways.

(2) Only use the bike to get around UBC campus; please don’t take it home or far away.

(3) Return the bike to the same place and return the key to my drawer as soon as you’re done using it. Remember to lock the frame, not the wheels, even though it’s unlikely that anyone will steal this rusty beauty.

Enjoy!
