I am currently analysing the effect of variation within the Uptake Signal
Sequence of H. influenzae upon efficiency of DNA uptake. I'd like to
identify the protein(s) responsible for the DNA-protein interactions at
the cell surface that lead to uptake of DNA by competent cells, and to
understand the mechanism of that uptake.
I also hope to develop novel techniques for the genetic manipulation of
Haemophilus influenzae.
