Research: Disease Ecology and Evolution

My research investigates ecological and evolutionary causes of variation in virulence (broadly defined here as the parasite-mediated reduction in host fitness). My current focus is to understand the relationship between host fitness and parasite fitness across multiple host-parasite systems, and to use this knowledge to improve predictions regarding the outcome of parasite infection in nature.

Journal: Evolutionary Applications

I am interested in improving the accessibility of evolutionary biology to the both to biologists and to the general public. To facilitate this goal, a group of editors and I have teamed up with Wiley-Blackwell Publishing to launch the journal Evolutionary Applications. Submit your papers here.
