adventures

I enjoy adventures of all kinds:

Grad school is my current adventure. If you are interested, here is some information about a few of my previous adventures:

In the summer of 2011, I participated in the Mongol Rally, a semi-organized charity event in which I hopped in a Vauxhall Agila with 3 friends and drove from London, England to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. Through the generosity of friends and family, as well as the sale of our car in Mongolia, we raised over $4000 for two charities (the Christina Noble Children's Foundation and Doctors Without Borders.)

Documentation of this trip, which involved multiple breakdowns, fermented mare's milk consumed with tipsy Mongolian nomads, 9000 miles of bad road (1/3 the circumference of the earth, give or take!), negotiations with Kazakh police, stealth camping in Siberian farmers' fields, a heartbreaking tour of Auschwitz, and many more curious events, can be found here:

From Sept 2008 - Aug 2010 I lived and worked in the village of D'Kar, located in western Botswana, in the Kalahari desert. I was working for the Komku Trust, part of the Kuru Family of Organizations, which works with the San indigenous people of Southern Africa. I was primarily involved with a small community trust, the Huiku Trust. During this time, I had many adventures, some of which can be found here:
From June 2007 - June 2008 I lived and worked in the town of Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu, India. I worked as an art teacher at the Kodaikanal International School. I had a variety of Indian adventures.

I enjoy backpacking. My favourite trails (so far!) are the West Coast Trail on Vancouver Island, and the Naukluft Trail in Namibia.
