Ian Lane Photographic Slides

A large collection of photographs of live insects

Ian Lane was an avid insect photographer. Throughout the 1990's into the early 2000's he photographed thousands of insects in different areas throughout North Vancouver. These photographs were developed on slides which were then organized and, especially the dragonflies and butterflies, identified. The goal for the future is to digitize his collection of over 10,000 slides, donated to the Spencer in 2014, so that his dedication and valuable data are available for future researchers. The following gallery is only a small subset of his work and more photographs, as well as the accompanying data, will be available here in the future.
