Welcome
Evolutionary biology is an active field of research at the University of British Columbia.
Faculty study a broad range of topics, from the phylogeny of fungi to the radiation of sticklebacks, with expertise at the molecular, organismal and theoretical levels.
Evolutionary biology is represented in a number of departments (listed to the right); potential graduate students should contact faculty of interest and apply to the appropriate department or to the cross-department Genetics Program.
Seminars
The Evolution Discussion Group (EDG) meets every Friday at 12:00 to discuss journal articles in evolutionary biology. The Biodiversity Research Seminar (BRS) series meets every Wednesday at 12:00 in the AERL auditorium. Other seminars of potential interest are run through the Biodiversity Research Centre, Botany, and Zoology.
